Instagram & copyright
Good morning, afternoon or evening,
Do you repost other users images on Instagram?
Did you know you could be committing copyright infringement?
It may be difficult to believe because Instagram is a platform designed to share & post images but once a user posts an image they have ownership for, it effectively means that no one else can use that image without permission.
However, I’m sure you have noticed 99% of the users on Instagram are completely fine with others sharing and reposting their images without permission as long as they are given credit. But there will be the 1% that is not okay with it, and if you haven’t asked permission and could have a copyright infringement claim against you.
So, it is best to stick to your own original content and if you are going to repost, it is always better to ask first.
