Google link penalties to avoid with dental SEO
Are you looking to build a successful marketing campaign? Then, it is worth knowing exactly what is required from the search engines to do so, especially Google.
You have to be aware of how Google ranks websites, how it prioritises websites and indeed, how it penalises websites that have broken the terms of an agreement on the search engine. If you were not aware that this could happen, please read on!
Many web pages that are eager to optimise their website fall prey to the Google penalty system, and when you contact our team at Dental Focus for the marketing of your dental surgery, we will ensure that this does not happen to you.
At Dental Focus, we have nearly 20 years of experience working with dental websites to ensure that their dental SEO ticks all of the boxes that the Google algorithm requires in order to rank the websites higher. We have overseen the SEO of thousands of dental surgeries and can assure you that when you choose our team, you will have true professionals helping you to optimise your web page.
One of the biggest issues relating to Google penalties is surrounding the links that you may have on your web page. Links are an essential part of dental SEO, but here, we look at some of the link-based penalties you will want to avoid when on Google.
Link spam
First on the list of dental SEO no-nos is link spam.
Physically, this looks like large and overly complicated URLs placed on irrelevant forums.
To optimise your SEO, you do need to have links to other websites on your off-site articles, but these should be based on the subject that has been spoken about in the article and should not be a competitor’s page or one associated with spam.
Paid links
You absolutely do not want to have paid links on your dental surgery page. They will be flagged up, and you will incur a penalty. Not all paid links are bad, however, but for the safety of your dental surgery page, it is worth having links associated with well known sources of information relating to dental content, such as the NHS, rather than a paid link.
Private blog networks
Your dental surgery website will have a blog, but you do not want to link the articles in that blog to another blog that you oversee, as this is what is known as a private blog network, and it waters down the authority of the piece on your blog page. You will also get penalised by Google; this is because you have built up a false authority around an area which is based on spam.
Poor links
The quality of the links also has to be considered. As mentioned before, when it comes to dental marketing, one of the best links to have is to a well known and respected source such as the NHS. If you are linking your article on dental implants to an unknown page online, this is not appealing and can get you penalised by Google.
Excessive linking
Our team recommends placing around three links per 500 word article. If you stuff your article with links, this is known as link stuffing and will get you penalised by Google, as it is not organic.
